Hey Photographer! Cathy Here!

You enjoy photography and you’ve finally bought a camera you love. You’ve taken “How to Use Your Camera? – Part 1” and perhaps even Part 2. Now you feel ready to take your photography to the next level.
Here are some accessories that as a beginner photographer you should definitely consider buying.

  1. Camera bag – There are some great bags out there and the right choice for you may vary. For some of you with just a few camera accessories, a small over the shoulder camera bag is ideal. Personally, I love the backpack. It’s a bit bigger but as your gear expands it will make carrying everything much easier. There are also bags that look more stylish, and less like a typical camera bag. One of our favorite brands is ONA bags – we’ve collaborated a lot with them in the past, and they make great products!
  2. Spare battery – You don’t think you need a spare battery until you spend the day shooting and that dreadful low battery blinker comes on. To avoid missing a great shot make sure you have an extra charged battery on hand. Keep a charger with you as well, so you can plug it in if there’s a spare outlet near by.
  3. Microfiber cleaning cloth or lens pen – Those dust particles and finger marks can be so hard to remove from your lens. These accessories are very effective and simple to use. Don’t touch your lens with your bare fingers! The oils on our skin can cause damage to the surface of the glass.
  4. Memory cards – As a new photographer, you will probably be taking lots of photos. Practice, practice, practice! When shooting, you certainly don’t want to run out of space. This only means that you have to stop taking photos and take extra time to delete those unwanted photos, manually. With an extra memory card on hand you are sure never to miss a shot.
  5. Instagram or Flickr account – Now that you have decided to take your photography to the next level, show off your photos! There is no better way to do this than by having an online platform to do so. Click click away but upload only your best ones. Your friends and family are sure to be impressed with your work!
